CBP and DHEO accepted to Housing Institute

Community Building Partners (CBP) is proud to announce that we, along with our long-time collaborative partner Direction Home of Eastern Ohio (DHEO), have been accepted to the 2023-24 Opening New Doors Institute.

Hosted by the Corporation for Supportive Housing, the five-month intensive training will lead our teams through the development process, using the Institute’s resources and education to improve planning processes and access more effective funding opportunities.

Our application and proposed project aims to create supportive housing for seniors experiencing chronic homelessness and complex health challenges in Mahoning County. As experienced service providers and housing developers, we are eager to build our knowledge base on this priority population with a worthy end result: the development of quality and safe affordable housing.

The Opening New Doors Institute has a strong track record in Ohio, with graduates experiencing an 80% success rate in implementing projects. The Institute provides targeted training, technical assistance, and pre-development financing to both new and experienced development teams. Teams like ours receive more than 60 hours of training including individualized technical assistance and resources to assist in completing their project.

The knowledge we’ll earn through this intensive training will take us further throughout the state of Ohio and be put into practice in current and future projects. We’re excited about this opportunity to continue serving Ohio populations in need and provide opportunities for greater quality of life for our neighbors.
