Community Building Partners is excited about a project coming later this year: Ritter’s Run, a community of 12 affordable senior apartments in Mansfield, Ohio. Besides providing new, affordable apartments for a dozen senior households, Ritter’s Run is a pilot project for future affordable housing development.
Ritter’s Run is being built by the Area Agency on Aging Region 5 (AAA5), which is headquartered in Mansfield. Its affordability is made possible through a HOME grant from the City of Mansfield and a donation of vacant land from the Richland County Land Bank. AAA5 and Community Building Partners hope to prove out their concept of buildings that are economical to build and operate, and roll that model out to elsewhere in Mansfield and in other communities across the state.
Due to COVID-19–related precautions, AAA5 couldn’t host an-in person groundbreaking ceremony, so they put together a virtual one instead (including CBP’s own Joe Recchie).
The buildings will be built by Unibilt using modular construction. Mechanics Bank is providing the construction and permanent financing. The apartments will be put into operation later this year. Check back for updates!
