PRESERVING INDEPENDENT LIVING
Studies have shown that the best living arrangement for the physical and mental health of an older person is to live on their own in their own space, whenever possible. This is called independent living. Occasional help with some tasks from a home health aide or other assistance may be needed, so these services are offered separately from rent and can be arranged for anyone living at home, whether in a single-family house or an apartment complex for people over 62.
STRENGTHENING NON-PROFITS
Just because your organization is a nonprofit doesn’t mean you can’t earn your own money to fulfill your mission. Developing affordable housing—either by yourself or with a development adviser—gives you the chance to serve the needs of your community while also earning unrestricted revenue for your mission.
