We have so much to be proud of this year. View our Impact Solar 2025 Recap here, or keep reading!
In 2025, we empowered 10 LMI homeowners and 7 nonprofits, including 1 library and 2 affordable housing communities.
We take pride in trailblazing. We installed the first SmartFlower in Ohio at the Worthington Northwest Library, and completed two of the first affordable housing solar installations in Central Ohio. We received one of the City of Columbus’s first zoning variances for a solar project (more news to come!)
Our cutting-edge approach to development creates more winners and allows us to install solar at no cost to our hosts. This summer, we piloted a residential version of the nonprofit program for Columbus homeowners. We also earned 6 of the first national allocations of the competitive IRS Low Income Bonus Tax Credit.
Central Ohio is our home, and our mission is to catalyze local interest in solar. We achieved a groundbreaking 10 megawatt commitment for solar from the City of Westerville, cementing the future of solar in central Ohio. We also delivered the Columbus Region Green Fund it’s first lending successes with our community serving projects and the pilot of our Impact Solar for homeowners.
Ohio is stronger when Ohio workers install Ohio-made products, which we made a priority this year. We built on the success of our partners, who earned multiple grants for installation training programs for returning citizens.
All of this success brought us some attention. We were identified as an Early Adopter in Rocky Mountain Institute’s Scaling Low Income Solar with the Inflation Reduction Act. Inverter Manufacturer Solis wrote a white paper on an Impact Solar installation. The Columbus Region Green Fund produced a case study on our Corban Commons Project. When we weren’t in the papers, we were in the community. We hosted a press conference for the Mayor of Columbus to announce the Columbus Region Green Fund’s first community investments. This September, we hosted “SunDay” with Save Ohio Parks and Third Act Ohio, bringing 20+ local organizations together.
We’d like to thank our partners, Partners Achieving Community Transformation (PACT), Dayspring Christian CDC, Fifth Third Bank, Heartland Bank and the Columbus Region Green Fund.
