Earlier this month after thoughtful discussion and several readings of Ordinance No. 2025-07, Westerville City Council officially and unanimously approved the contract to purchase up to 10 mW of solar electricity through our Impact Solar program. The approval of the contract represents a major threshold in the process to bring locally built, equitably deployed, clean energy to the Westerville community.

The successful and unanimous vote is a testament to the teamwork, responsiveness, and creative forethought of city leadership and the Westerville Utility team, as well as the innovative public-private partnership with the Impact Solar team, which includes our Community Renewable Energy team and our partners at Clean Energy Ventures, a 501c3 from the Columbus Partnership.
“Westerville has long been a leader in Ohio of public utility management and sustainability, and our goal is to support the City in delivering cleaner energy, lower rates and more local resiliency for our community through this solar” said Community Renewable Energy CEO, Joe Recchie.
The Impact Solar team and our partners are looking forward to supporting the Westerville Utility in stewarding a clean, reliable and resilient grid for Westerville residents and businesses and we are excited to work together to build community-serving solar assets that Westerville residents can be proud of!
